Description

Artisanal excellence to enhance your tasting experience

This stoneware chawan showcases the timeless „Ame" glaze (pronounced ah-may), a rich brown enamel employed in Japan for over 800 years. The name, meaning "candy", alludes to the amber colouration characteristic of traditional Japanese confections. Each vessel is distinctive, adorned with hand-painted brushstrokes whose interplay accentuates the refined beauty of the glaze. The classic rounded form is ideally proportioned for brewing and enjoying matcha tea.

A ceremonial vessel for matcha preparation

Matcha represents a green tea whose leaves have been milled into an exceptionally fine powder. Rather than being steeped, it is whisked using a bamboo implement, bowl and spoon. To experience matcha in its most luxurious and delicate state, consume it immediately following preparation.

1. Transfer 2 scoops (equivalent to a level teaspoon) of matcha into the bowl.
2. Add 5 cl of water warmed to 70 °C to the powder.
3. Stabilize the bowl with one hand and vigorously whisk the matcha using the bamboo whisk (creating a "W" pattern at the bowl's base) until a smooth, foamy layer emerges.

Your matcha is now ready to enjoy! To prepare a matcha latte, simply incorporate 10 cl of frothed milk (cow's milk or plant-based alternative).
