Craftsmanship for your tasting experience
This matcha bowl stands out for its Shino-style glaze – a creamy white enamel applied by hand, whose texture reveals delicate pinkish hints in places. Three different enamels are layered together to create a unique play of colours, with an appearance that shifts depending on the angle from which it is viewed.
Its traditional circular shape lends itself perfectly to both preparing and savouring a matcha tea.
A ceremonial bowl for preparing matcha
Matcha is a green tea whose leaves have been ground into a very fine powder. Rather than being steeped, it is whisked – using a bamboo whisk, a bowl and a scoop.
To enjoy matcha at its creamiest and sweetest, it should be drunk as soon as it has been prepared.
1. Place 2 scoops (the equivalent of one level teaspoon) of matcha in the bowl.
2. Pour 5 cl of water heated to 70 °C over the powder.
3. Holding the bowl with one hand, whisk the matcha vigorously with the bamboo whisk (forming a „W" at the bottom of the bowl) until a creamy froth appears.
Your matcha is ready to be enjoyed! For a matcha latte, simply add 10 cl of milk (dairy or plant-based), previously frothed with an electric whisk.
