Description

Smooth and balanced yet energising, Matcha Impérial is an organic Japanese green tea that brings forth exquisite vegetal flavours, enriched by a dominant umami taste.

Crafted with exceptional precision from tencha leaves: approximately 3 weeks prior to harvesting, the tea plants are shielded from most sunlight, encouraging their leaves to acquire unmatched flavour profiles. These tencha leaves are subsequently ground delicately in a stone mill until they attain a powder like consistency.

Rather than being steeped, this tea is whisked into water with a bamboo whisk. The tea leaves are therefore absorbed fully, accounting for both the deliciously flavoured nature of Matcha Impérial and its considerable wellness properties. A genuine superfood endowed with multiple benefits: abundant in caffeine with revitalising qualities, and in theanine, which promotes mental clarity and calm, a bowl of matcha reportedly provides up to 3 times the catechin content (a substance with potent antioxidant capability) of any other green tea.

This tea is cultivated under organic farming methods and holds certification from Ecocert, an approved independent certifying organisation.

Suggestion of preparation

Unlike other teas, matcha is ground to a fine powder. This green teas is not infused but beaten. It is prepared using a whisk, bowl and spatula.

• Place 2 spatulas (or one level teaspoon) of Matcha Impérial in a bowl.
• Pour over 70ml of water heated to 70°C.
• Hold the bowl in one hand and, with the other, beat the tea sharply with a whisk until it forms a smooth foam. Once the matcha is foamy and blended, drink.

NB : we suggest you use an electric whisk for Matcha, to obtain the perfect rich foam! You can also use cow’s milk or soya milk – it’s delicious!
