Description
Crafted from black clay and finished with an ash glaze, this bowl takes on a grey hue with blue undertones that evokes a cloud — kumo in Japanese.
Made by hand, its traditional round shape is ideally suited to preparing and enjoying matcha tea.
Known as a chawan, this bowl plays a central role in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, where it is essential for preparing matcha. It is used together with a spatula, the chashaku, to measure out the right quantity of matcha, and a whisk, the chasen, for whisking the powdered tea in the bowl.
