What is a Gaiwan?

The gaiwan, sometimes referred to as a zhong, is a cup crafted from exceptionally fine porcelain with no handle, complete with a lid and saucer.

It functions as the brewing vessel for Gong Fu Cha, a technique built around a series of brief, closely spaced infusions.

Classically, this approach proves ideal for unlocking the aromatic depth found in teas originating from China and Taiwan.

Yet it extends equally well to any tea whose aroma profile merits it (concentrated scents, nuanced layers).

Within the gaiwan, the leaves infuse openly in the cup as the lid captures them during the pouring of the liquor, while also enabling one to breathe in the fragrant notes.

This Gaiwan is crafted in "Blanc de Chine" porcelain sourced from Dehua in the Fujian region. This material holds significant prominence across the artistic realm.
Remarkably refined, it permits the full aromatic expression of the tea, and its soft creamy tone enables one to examine the infusion's colour with great accuracy.

Boasting a capacity of 10 cl, this Gaiwan accommodates both solitary appreciation and shared tasting experiences.

Its flawless execution renders it particularly pleasant to use.
