Description
With its long, gently rumpled leaves and light oxidation, this oolong unfolds delicate notes of white flowers.
The name bao zhong translates as "wrapped in paper", a reference to the old practice of folding the leaves into white cotton paper to shape them softly while protecting their delicate fragrance.
Inspired by Taiwan's iconic bao zhong, this tea is grown in Mae Salong in Thailand — an unusual terroir for producing these renowned oolongs. Perched at 1,200 metres above sea level, this exceptional region provides ideal conditions for the oolong's subtle aromas to develop.
The leaves of this precious harvest come from the jin xuan cultivar and are lightly oxidised, which gives a particularly pronounced floral character in the cup.
For many years, we have worked closely with Mrs Ming, a respected and exceptionally talented tea producer in northern Thailand.
This atypical terroir is every bit as rich as Taiwan's growing regions and reveals a fresh facet of the bao zhong.
It can be enjoyed throughout the day.
