It is created using tea plant stems harvested during the gathering of shade grown tea: this exemplifies the premium quality of Kukicha. The defining characteristic lies in its roasting process, executed following the Bancha Hojicha method (Hojicha translating to "roasted green tea").
This tea comes from organic cultivation and holds certification from Ecocert, a recognized independent certification authority.
